AP Precalculus study tips

  • The four FRQ types are fixed: function concepts, modeling a non-periodic context, modeling a periodic context and symbolic manipulations. Practice one of each type under a timer.
  • Make sure your graphing calculator is in radian mode for the calculator parts; a degree-mode slip on a sinusoidal model costs several points at once.
  • In modeling FRQs, write the model with units and interpret parameters in context (for example, "the amplitude is the maximum height above the midline in meters").
  • This exam is weighted 63% MCQ, so MCQ accuracy matters more than on most math exams; do not skip Part A practice because it feels easy.
