AP Calculus BC study tips

  • Series is a guaranteed FRQ topic: memorize the Maclaurin series for e^x, sin x, cos x and 1/(1−x), and practice stating the convergence test by name (ratio, alternating series, comparison).
  • For the Lagrange error bound, write the bound formula with the max derivative value explicitly; the rubric awards points for the setup, not only the final number.
  • BC-only FRQ topics (parametric, polar, vector-valued motion, Euler's method) are often worth easy points; make sure you can compute speed, arc length and polar area quickly.
  • The BC curve is generous because the 5 rate is high, but that means a score in the middle of the pack is a 4, not a 5. Aim to finish every MCQ with five minutes to spare for checking.
